I always have a fantastic time catching up on books during the school holidays, and I look forward to reading more these coming holidays. I like non-fiction, but I tend to prefer fiction for my downtime reading.
Here is a list of what I read, and what I loved in the last school holidays:
I went on a little YA novel bend for a while, and read a bunch of really great ones. What was most exciting for me was how diverse these books were in their representation - there were representations of disability, different races, mental health conditions, and the LGBTQIA+ community. (I think the new terminology I've heard used is Diverse Bodies, Genders, and Sexualities -- but I haven't seen it around much yet?) Some of my favourite YA stories were All Alone with You by Amelia Diane Coombs, Where You See Yourself by Claire Forrest, You Bet Your Heart by Danielle Parker, Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli, and Borrow My Heart by Kasie West.
I also read and enjoyed the following (non-YA) books:
The Librarianist by Patrick deWitt
A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon
Yellowface by R. F. Kuang
Either/Or by Elif Bautman
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
My absolute favourite book of the year to decide is always tough. I thought it could be the Ann Patchett one, until I read this one: Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa.

Although, there are still a few days left before 2023 ends..! Have you been reading anything good lately?
